This is my first post. I had better tell you what this blog will be all about!
I’m a Christian – so I love Jesus and want to spend my life finding out more about him, and enjoying him in everything. Does that make me some kind of super devout religious person? Well in some ways maybe yes, but in other ways, definitely not. I love climbing, creating and conversation, and I see him even in the hobbies I enjoy, as well as in work and rest, and in typically religious activities as well like going to church or reading the bible.
Because I believe he made life and nature and imagination in all its wonderful complexity, the more I explore these things, the more I praise him for how wonderful he is. This is not forced.
On the good days, I am happy and that can flow out in praising God for the things I see him do. On the bad days, I can cry to God, and ask him why things are happening, or ask for his help. On the worst of all days I forget about him. He is there through it all, never a pushover, but always strong, gentle and willing to help.
I set up this blog 5 months ago, and it has taken me this long to put together my first post. To those of you reading I’d like to say a big hello, and thank you for being here. I’d love for you to feel very welcome.
On my front page I have a quote from Tolkien’s character Gandalf. In The Hobbit, Gandalf says to another character, Bilbo Baggins, that he is looking for someone to share in an adventure.
In this cultural moment, not always, but sometimes, it can be hard to have discussions with people around specific topics, but these conversations, when they happen, can be so precious in my experience.
The aim of this blog is to adventure through life, faith, curiosity and creativity, and hopefully spark wonder and conversation and further curiosity into some of these topics. Not everyone will agree, but whether you do or not, I hope you will feel welcome to consider arguments, and even respond should you feel so inclined. It is very valuable to hear counter opinions.
Well, that is all for now. I will sign off here, and look forward to the next conversation in two weeks time, Lord willing!
